So you're looking to get couples or engagement photography done in Kelowna, BC? Well, you're in luck! There are a plethora of stunning outdoor locations to choose from. Whether you're looking for a high point with a scenic view of the rolling hills and Okanagan Lake, or something more intimate and cozy, we've got you covered.

There are literally dozens of well-known photo hot spots here, and even more secret gems, but for this post I'm going to keep it short and just talk about my personal top 3 favourite photography locations in Kelowna.

Well, kind of.

I actually lied in the title, because my absolute favourite photography spot (not just for couples photography, but portraits too) is actually in Vernon. BUT I just had to include it because it's so perfect there, and it's only a 40-minute drive away! Anyways, let's get started.

Knox Mountain Park

First on the list of best engagement photography spots in Kelowna is Knox Mountain Park. Coming in at my number 3 favourite spot in Kelowna, Knox is a great choice because it offers great variety in backdrops for your photos, meaning that during an engagement or couples session here you'll be able to go home with photos set in scenic views, forests, rocky outcrops, and stunning sunsets.

Knox is great during all times of the year, and if you're familiar with the seasons in the Okanagan you already know we get a truly authentic version of spring, summer, fall, and winter. If you are planning on doing your photos here in the winter though, make sure to bring good footwear as the paths leading up the mountain can get quite slippery.

Another bonus of Knox Mountain Park is that it's pet-friendly, so if you and your loved one have a dog you'd like to include in your engagement or couples photography it's an easy choice!

If you're looking to get your couples photography done and have a lot of variety in your images, Knox Mountain is a fantastic choice for any season of the year!

The Best Engagement Photography Spot in Kelowna: Bertram Creek Regional Park

Coming in at number 2 on the list is my personal favourite photography spot in Kelowna: Bertram Creek Regional Park.

Bertram Creek Park is my favourite Kelowna choice for three reasons. First off, it has a great amount of diversity in it's scenery, ranging from stunning cliff-top views to gorgeous Okanagan beaches.

The second reason I love Bertram for a photography hot spot is because it's out of the way. While Knox is a great choice, it's often very busy due to it's close proximity to downtown Kelowna. Bertram Creek on the other hand is about a 20-minute drive from downtown, meaning that not many people make the trip out there and I often find that we'll have the whole place to ourselves!

The third reason I love doing photography here is a subjective one, and that's because I absolutely adore shooting my couples or engagement sessions with the colour green. Whether it's bushes, trees, grass, or any other kind of plant life, Bertram Creek has loads to choose from. Even in winter months the Oregon Grape stays nice and green!

Just keep in mind that unlike Knox Mountain, Bertram Creek Regional Park is not dog-friendly, so if you'd like your furry companion in your photos I'd recommend somewhere else.

Ellison Provincial Park

Alright, the moment is here. I finally get to talk about my absolute favourite place in the entire Okanagan to take photos. I'll admit, I am a bit biased when it comes to Ellison Park as I grew up fairly close by, which means I spent a lot of my childhood, teenage, and young adult years here. It's in these waters I first learned to swim, and it's on these beaches that I've been sunburned more times than I can count.

But, that being said, I'll make a good case for anyone to do engagement photography or portraits here, even without the nostalgia.

Ellison Park checks all the boxes of the above suggested photography locations, in that it's got a huge range of diverse environments for your photos, it allows dog access (asides from two of the beaches), it's got a ton of green to work with, and it's only a super popular spot in the summer. If you're planning your photoshoot in fall through spring, there won't be too many people there so you can have a nice intimate setting, but even in summer when it's busy Ellison is a massive park so you'll still have a lot of space.

Ellison Park has three main beaches to choose from, each of which have different coloured sand and are connected by various hiking trails. On top of that, in between the beaches are large rocky cliffs that offer a multitude of scenic views for wider landscape shots.

There are trails leading up to all of the cliffs, and you can freely walk around to find the best spot for the sunset (there are lots). Speaking of sunset, all three main beaches and the cliffs joining them offer an absolutely STUNNING view of the sunset in the summer & fall seasons!

Along with the forest, trails, cliffs, and beaches, there's also nice grassy fields which also have a great sunset! Perfect for those nice wide shots holding hands and being all whimsical. Such whimsy!

So those are my top three choices for couples or engagement photography locations in Kelowna (and Vernon haha). Whether you're a photographer or not I'd highly recommend to check them out and have some fun outside!
